More Than 30 Years Around Fine Pianos
For more than three decades, Michael’s family has owned and operated Steinway piano galleries. Growing up in that environment gave him a lifelong understanding of the care, communication, and professionalism expected by piano owners, dealers, technicians, institutions, and artists.

Michael later attended Steinway training in New York City, building on that experience with additional knowledge of premium piano handling and customer service.

Chelsea manages customer communication, planning, and the details behind the scenes. Michael works directly with clients on moving plans and service needs. Together, they built GrandGuard around specialized piano care and a more personal experience from the first conversation through final placement.
GrandGuard handles local piano moving throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia, along with long-distance and nationwide piano transportation throughout the lower 48 states. For nationwide moves, the service is managed from pickup through final placement, using specialized piano professionals for each stage of the move.

We also offer climate-controlled piano storage, professional evaluations, cleaning and detailing, cabinet repairs and refinishing, and restoration services. These services can be combined when needed so a piano can be moved, stored, cared for, and delivered with fewer separate arrangements for the owner.
