Moving Terms
1. Services
GrandGuard provides professional piano moving services, including careful loading, transportation, and placement of the piano at its destination. For long-distance moves, service may be performed in stages and may include coordination with affiliated carriers, storage facilities, or qualified subcontractors, all of whom operate under these terms. Optional climate-controlled storage is available as described in Section 7.
2. Pricing & Estimates
Pricing is based on the information you provide at the time of booking. Additional charges may apply for conditions not disclosed prior to service, including but not limited to extra stairs, long carries, tight turns, elevator delays, hoisting or crane requirements, parking or access restrictions, or other challenging moving conditions. You will be notified of additional charges as soon as they are identified, and such charges are payable as part of the total balance.
3. Payment
Payment is due in full upon pickup unless otherwise agreed in writing. GrandGuard may require a deposit to reserve a date; deposits are applied to the total balance. The piano will not be released for delivery until all amounts due, including any additional or storage charges, are paid in full. Balances more than 15 days past due may accrue a late charge of 1.5% per month or the maximum permitted by law, whichever is less.
4. Scheduling, Delays & Delivery Windows
Pickup and delivery dates and times are good-faith estimates, not guarantees. Long-distance deliveries are quoted as delivery windows and may be affected by routing, weather, traffic, or carrier scheduling. GrandGuard is not liable for delays or for events beyond its reasonable control, including weather, road conditions, accidents, labor shortages, or acts of government. You may cancel or reschedule at no charge with at least 48 hours' notice; cancellations with less notice may forfeit the deposit or incur a cancellation fee.
5. Customer Responsibilities
You agree to: (a) accurately disclose all relevant conditions at both locations, including stairs, landings, doorways, elevators, and parking; (b) provide safe, clear, and legal access at pickup and delivery, including reserving elevators or parking where required; (c) remove all personal items from the piano and bench before pickup; (d) secure pets and keep children clear of the work area; and (e) have an authorized adult present at pickup and delivery. GrandGuard may decline or suspend service, without liability, if conditions are unsafe, and additional charges may apply for waiting time or undisclosed conditions.
6. Care of Property; Limitation of Liability
Every reasonable precaution will be taken to protect the piano and surrounding property. In the unlikely event that damage occurs as a direct result of our services, GrandGuard will make reasonable efforts to repair the damage or otherwise resolve the claim. Any claim must be noted at delivery or submitted in writing within five (5) days of delivery; claims not timely submitted are waived. GrandGuard's total liability for any loss or damage, however arising, is limited to the piano's fair market value at the time of the move, and GrandGuard is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.
GrandGuard is not responsible for: pre-existing damage or wear; damage resulting from inherent defects, prior repairs, loose or fragile components, or the structural condition of the instrument; changes in tuning, regulation, or voicing; or issues resulting from climate changes, humidity fluctuations, or the natural settling of the instrument following transportation or storage. Pianos are expected to require tuning after any move; tuning is not included unless separately arranged.
7. Storage
If storage services are provided, storage fees are due monthly, and the piano will be stored in a climate-controlled facility. Section 6 of this Agreement applies to pianos in storage. GrandGuard may assert a lien on stored property for unpaid charges to the extent permitted by applicable law, and property left unclaimed with charges unpaid for more than 120 days after written notice may be handled in accordance with Maryland law. You are responsible for maintaining any insurance coverage on the piano beyond the liability limits stated in Section 6.
8. General Terms
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, and any dispute shall be resolved in the state courts of Maryland. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. This Agreement is the entire agreement between the parties regarding the services described and supersedes any prior discussions or estimates. GrandGuard may engage qualified subcontractors or affiliated carriers to perform portions of the services; these terms, including all limitations of liability, apply to them equally.
